Today Is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation here in Canada. On this day, we remember the victims of the Canadian residential school system and the many atrocities committed against Indigenous Peoples across the Americas since European settlement.
Let us remember our commitment to ongoing reparations and healing of our relationships to those dear ones who have taught us so much about this land and its ways. May we always respect and honour our first inhabitants and their rights to cultural freedom and self-determination. And most of all, may we listen with open ears and open hearts to the wisdom that exists in lived Indigenous experience across all time and place.
If you feel called to donate, here’s a link to many of the organizations and charities that exist to support Indigenous Peoples in Canada today and every day: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/donate-to-indigenous-charities/
We are one body and one heart, always. Much love.
